Denis Muloin Memorial Ride 2017

Denis Muloin managed the Russ Hay's bike store in Sidney from 1984 until 2004 when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Denis spent his final days surrounded by family and friends at Saanich Peninsula Hospital. It was here that he and his family were introduced to the Palliative Care Program.

As a result of the wonderful care and support Denis and his family received, Mike Clermont of Russ Hay’s and Karen Morgan of the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation wanted to organize an annual cycling event in memory of Denis while also acknowledging the amazing work that the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Palliative Care Program does for this community.

Our goal is to raise funds to help support the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Palliative Care Program.

We are very lucky to have one of the very best CX series in Canada right here on Vancouver Island. Cross on the Rock was started 14 years ago by Wendy Simms and Norm Thibault and a group calling themselves the Council of Cross. The first race had something like 10 participants. The Series exploded in popularity - probably because of it’s grassroots nature, accessibility and the fact it is so fun - and now most weekends from September through November there are hundreds of cyclists of all abilities and ages getting super muddy with big grins on their faces.
